Video and worksheet: Exploring sustainable practices in food and fibre production

Back to results

This video is about forestry and the sustainable management of the industry.
Video in review: Linda Madden is the Harvesting Manager from Green Triangle Forest Products, SA. With forestry, trees are managed over a much larger time period than cattle or sheep farming. Thinning and different technologies are used to manage plantations. High value products will be processed domestically and pulp woodchips (lower value) will be processed overseas.
Many companies are looking to value add. E.g. Toilet paper production – using the fibres, from imported products, using technology and machinery and recycling waste from the factory.

We need your feedback. When you have completed this unit please tell us what you think via the online survey external link. We will regularly update the units and your feedback will help PIEFA keep the resources current and relevant to teachers.
